Rail & Table

A storied tradition returns.

Long before the era of modern travel, Centralia House served as the premier dining destination for passengers on the Illinois Central line. Today, we invite you to rediscover the leisure of rail travel—arriving just steps from our door for an afternoon or evening of world-class dining.

The Journey

Whether you are departing from the bustling energy of Chicago or the scenic rolling hills of Carbondale, the train offers a rare moment to disconnect. Watch the Illinois landscape unfold from the observation car before stepping off at the Centralia Station.

A Convenient Arrival: We are located less than one block from the platform. No car is required; simply follow the brick-lined streets to our front door, where a table and a New Orleans-inspired meal await.

The Illinois Service

The Amtrak schedule provides a seamless window for a three-course lunch or early dinner before returning home.

  • Northbound (from Carbondale) Illini 392
  • Southbound (from Chicago) Illini 393
  • Arrival Window ~3 Hours for Dining
  • Proximity to Station < 1 Block

Reservations are highly recommended for rail travelers to ensure your timing aligns with the current Amtrak schedule.

Planning Your Journey

Tickets for the Illini and Saluki services can be reserved directly through Amtrak. We recommend booking in advance, especially for weekend travel.
